Overview
- Position fans near windows at floor level pointing outwards to expel warm air and draw in cooler air from lower down.
- Keep windows, curtains, and blinds closed from 10am to 4pm to block solar heat and reopen them during cooler morning and evening periods to flush out built-up warmth.
- Place a shallow bowl of ice in front of fan blades to generate an icy breeze that enhances cooling efficiency.
- Fit reflective window film or deploy shutters and blackout curtains on south-facing windows to cut solar gain and glare.
- Switch to LED bulbs, use microwave or outdoor cooking instead of ovens, and consider loft insulation upgrades to reduce indoor heat sources and energy costs.
