New Delhi World Book Fair Opens Jan. 10 With Free Entry and Military-History Focus

The edition doubles as a cultural exchange, with Qatar as guest of honour and Spain as focus country.

Overview

  • The nine-day fair at Bharat Mandapam runs January 10–18 under the theme “Indian Military History: Valour and Wisdom @75.”
  • Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the event with dignitaries from Qatar and Spain in attendance.
  • Organisers project participation by more than 1,000 publishers from over 35 countries, about 600 events and nearly 1,000 speakers, with attendance expected to top two million.
  • The Theme Pavilion will showcase 500+ books, curated exhibits and replicas of the Arjun tank, INS Vikrant and LCA Tejas, along with tributes to 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees and sessions on major operations.
  • Programming features evening performances by Ricky Kej, Manganiyar artists and Rekhta poets, a Kidz Express children’s area, ReP kiosks offering 6,000+ free e-books, and participation by 10 international book-fair directors.
