Overview
- The London Fire Brigade said the Hatcham Park Mews blaze was first reported at 4:27pm Wednesday and was under control by 6:48am Thursday.
- Fifteen fire engines and about 100 firefighters responded from New Cross, Peckham, Greenwich, Deptford and surrounding stations.
- The fire destroyed the roof and damaged part of the first floor and most of the second floor, the brigade reported.
- A number of residents were evacuated to a nearby rest centre and a hotel while crews worked through the night.
- A large smoke plume led to advice for locals to keep windows and doors closed, and the incident caused significant traffic disruption with people asked to avoid the area.
