New Comfort-Jets to Launch on PragueBerlin Route but Iconic Dining Cars Will Endure

Ceske drahy rolls out 230 km/h Comfort-Jets on July 26 with retired dining cars reassigned to Czech domestic lines.

Overview

  • Starting July 26, Ceske drahy replaces PragueBerlin services with Comfort-Jet trains that reach 230 km/h, add around 100 more seats and offer extra bicycle capacity.
  • Eurocity pairs EC 378, EC 170 and EC 258 from Prague and EC 171, EC 379 and EC 259 from Berlin will continue carrying the traditional Czech dining cars.
  • Retired dining cars will be redeployed on domestic routes across the Czech Republic instead of being scrapped.
  • The fleet modernization is part of an EU-supported upgrade of cross-border day and night services in collaboration with ÖBB’s Nightjet.
  • The plan balances faster, higher-capacity trains with the preservation of on-board Czech cuisine beloved by travelers.
