New Charges Filed Against Operators of Illegal Chinese-Linked Biolab in California

Federal authorities have indicted Jia Bei Zhu and Zhaoyan Wang for conspiracy, wire fraud, and distributing misbranded COVID-19 test kits.

Jia Bei Zhu and Zhaoyan Wang allegedly defrauded buyers by falsely labeling imported COVID-19 test kits as made in the USA.
The illegal biolab was discovered in Reedley, California, containing lab mice, human blood vials, and other substances.
Zhu and Wang are accused of making over $1.7 million through fraudulent sales of COVID-19 test kits.
The defendants face up to 20 years in prison for conspiracy and wire fraud, plus additional penalties for other charges.
Zhu remains in custody, while Wang's whereabouts are currently unknown.
