New €7 Visa Waiver Required for UK Travelers to EU by Summer 2025
The EU will implement the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias), requiring advance online permits for British visitors.
- The Etias system will be similar to the US Esta, costing €7 and valid for three years or until passport expiry.
- The entry-exit system (EES) will launch on November 10, 2024, requiring biometric data from travelers.
- Etias will apply to travelers from 60 visa-exempt countries, including the UK, US, and Australia.
- A six-month transitional period will follow Etias' introduction, with full enforcement expected by November 2025.
- Travelers under 18 or over 70 are exempt from the €7 fee but must still apply for the permit.
