New €7 Visa Waiver Required for UK Travelers to EU by Summer 2025

The EU will implement the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (Etias), requiring advance online permits for British visitors.

The Etias system will be similar to the US Esta, costing €7 and valid for three years or until passport expiry.
The entry-exit system (EES) will launch on November 10, 2024, requiring biometric data from travelers.
Etias will apply to travelers from 60 visa-exempt countries, including the UK, US, and Australia.
A six-month transitional period will follow Etias' introduction, with full enforcement expected by November 2025.
Travelers under 18 or over 70 are exempt from the €7 fee but must still apply for the permit.
