Nevada State Troopers Killed in Hit-and-Run, Suspect Arrested

Sergeant Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix were assisting a motorist when they were struck by a vehicle driven by Jemarcus Williams, who was later arrested and charged with reckless driving and DUI.

Sergeant Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix of the Nevada State Police were killed by a hit-and-run driver while assisting a motorist on a Las Vegas freeway.
The suspect, 46-year-old Jemarcus Williams, was arrested hours later and faces charges of reckless driving, DUI, and failing to stop at the scene of the crash.
Williams has a history of traffic violations, including a DUI charge in 2007.
Abbate had been with the department since 2013 and was promoted to sergeant in November 2023, while Felix joined in 2019 after serving in the U.S. Air Force.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
