Overview

  • Ronnie Williams entered a guilty plea July 8 in U.S. District Court in St. Paul, following his co-defendant Lorraine Lee Combs’s June 24 plea in the same conspiracy charge
  • Court filings show Williams and Combs generated hundreds of fake voter registrations from 2021 to 2022 and submitted them through the intermediary Foundation 1 in exchange for payment
  • An FBI fingerprint analysis connected the duo to multiple fraudulent registration forms, all of which were flagged by Minnesota’s verification process before any ballots could be cast
  • The investigation was led by the FBI, the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section and the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office, demonstrating strong federal–state cooperation
  • Sentencing dates have not been set for either defendant, with federal guidelines recommending prison terms, supervised release and fines
