- West Coast Main Line works will halt trains between Milton Keynes and Rugby from 25 December to 5 January for a junction replacement at Hanslope, and pause services between Preston and Carlisle from 31 December to 15 January for M6 bridge renewal, with Carlisle–Lockerbie suspended 1–7 January for signalling upgrades.

- The Cambridge corridor will see no services between Cambridge North, Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Stansted Airport from 25 December to 5 January, with additional Scottish closures between Dalmuir and Balloch/Helensburgh Central and between Glasgow Queen Street and Crianlarich from 24 December to 2 January.
- Passengers are urged to use National Rail Enquiries and journey planners, with diversions and rail‑replacement buses in place, and Network Rail says about 95% of lines remain unaffected alongside the usual network shutdown on Christmas Day and very limited Boxing Day services.
