Overview
- The Global Young Academy’s annual general meeting ran at IIT Hyderabad from June 8 to 14, attracting over 200 early- and mid-career researchers from 60 countries.
- The Hyderabad Declaration established NAYA as the region’s first collaborative platform for early- and mid-career researchers.
- Spearheaded by the Indian National Young Academy of Science, NAYA received unanimous backing from 12 national young academies across the Asia-Pacific, including those from Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, Australia and China.
- Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the summit, which featured thematic sessions on Industry 5.0, nutrition and well-being, and human-machine interaction.
- The International Science Council supported NAYA’s formation to enhance capacity building, mentorship and policy engagement throughout the Asia-Pacific scientific community.
