Netherlands Lottery Sends Banner Planes to Track Down 637,889 Unclaimed Staatsloterij Tickets

The deadline for shop-bought Oudejaarsloten is 31 December, after which unclaimed prizes are allocated to charities, NOC*NSF and the state.

Overview

  • Two aircraft took off from Teuge on Thursday to fly over regions including South Holland with a banner reading “637.889 loten zoeken de winnaar.”
  • Across the country 637,889 winning end-of-year tickets remain unclaimed, together worth about €4.4 million, according to the Staatsloterij.
  • In South Holland 128,672 winning tickets have not been cashed, totaling €892,216.20, while Utrecht still has roughly 46,000 tickets worth about €322,559.
  • Only physical tickets need to be presented because online purchases are paid automatically, and tickets from the 2024 draw remain valid until 31 December at 23:59.
  • If prizes go unclaimed they are included in Dutch Lottery transfers to eighteen charities, NOC*NSF and the Dutch state; separately, Eurojackpot players in The Hague and Naarden each won about €168,000 gross, before 34.2% gambling tax.
