• The French military maritime center identified the ship as the Minervagracht, said it was on fire, and noted a warship was heading to the scene.
• The ship’s master reported witnessing a distant splash, and there were no immediate reports of injuries.
• At the time of the incident the vessel was not transmitting its AIS signal, according to Ambrey.
• No group had claimed responsibility, and Ambrey said the same ship was previously targeted on Sept. 23 while en route to Djibouti.
