The series, which stars Sofia Vergara, explores Blanco's rise and fall in the drug trade during the 1970s and '80s.
Blanco, known as 'The Godmother,' reportedly moved hundreds of kilos of cocaine in the US and employed close to 1,500 dealers.
She was known for her ruthless tactics and was reportedly responsible for the deaths of her husbands and numerous others.
Blanco was eventually caught in 1985, convicted, and sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking. She was deported to Colombia in 2004 and was killed in 2012.
