The series, set in the 1960s, follows Ripley, a con man hired by a wealthy man to convince his son to return home from Italy, leading to a life of deceit, fraud, and murder.
The series also stars Johnny Flynn as Dickie Greenleaf and Dakota Fanning as Marge Sherwood, who grows suspicious of Ripley's motives.
The eight-part series is written, directed, and produced by Academy Award winner Steven Zaillian and is set to premiere in 2024.
Scott, known for his roles in 'Sherlock' and 'Fleabag', has said that playing the character of Tom Ripley was mentally and physically challenging.
