Netflix to Release Stop-Motion Series Featuring Sanrio's My Melody and Kuromi

The series, celebrating My Melody's 50th and Kuromi's 20th anniversaries, will debut globally in July 2025.

Directed by Tomoki Misato, known for 'Pui Pui Molcar,' the series will explore the handcrafted world of Mariland through stop-motion animation.
The show highlights My Melody, a cheerful and caring character introduced in 1975, and Kuromi, her mischievous yet lovable rival who debuted in 2005.
This marks the first stop-motion project by Toruku, a subsidiary of WIT Studio, renowned for anime hits like 'Attack on Titan.'
Screenwriter Shuko Nemoto developed the script remotely during the pandemic, infusing the series with a deep love for Sanrio's world.
The project is part of Netflix's growing investment in Japanese content, joining other upcoming releases like 'Bullet Train Explosion' and 'Last Samurai Standing.'
