Netflix Reveals Teaser for Psychological Horror Anime 'The Summer Hikaru Died'

The adaptation of Mokumokuren's award-winning manga is set to debut globally on Netflix in Summer 2025.

The Summer Hikaru Died is based on Mokumokuren's acclaimed manga, blending psychological horror, romance, and science fiction.
The story follows Yoshiki, a teenager in a rural village, grappling with the unsettling return of his best friend Hikaru, who has been overtaken by an otherworldly entity.
The anime will be directed by Ryohei Takeshita and produced by Cygames Pictures, with character design by Yuichi Takahashi.
Chiaki Kobayashi and Shuichiro Umeda will voice the lead characters, bringing depth to the complex relationship at the heart of the story.
The series will premiere in Japan during the Summer 2025 season and stream globally on Netflix, though an exact release date has not yet been confirmed.
