Netflix Launches Phone-Controlled TV Games, Expands Mobile Lineup With Red Dead Redemption

The company is refocusing on social, big-screen play that uses viewers’ phones as controllers rather than chasing console-style games.

Overview

  • TV play is now live inside the Netflix app, letting users control games on their televisions using a phone with no separate setup.
  • The initial slate features party and family titles including LEGO Party, Boggle Party, Party Crashers, Pictionary: Game Night, and Tetris Time Warp.
  • Netflix announced Netflix Puzzled as a daily puzzle hub tied to its shows and Best Guess Live as a weekday, real-time quiz for cash prizes, with the live app listed as U.S.-only and both coming soon.
  • Red Dead Redemption, including the Undead Nightmare expansion, is coming to mobile for Netflix subscribers, with one outlet reporting a December 2 release.
  • An expanded catalog adds WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition on the way and new kid-focused mobile games now available such as Lego Duplo, Barbie Color Creations, Toca Boca Hair Salon 4, and Paw Patrol Academy.
