Overview
- AI Discover appears as a new tab in Netflix’s TV app and presents theme-driven recommendation flows that are previewed with short clips from shows and movies.
- The feature is live for a limited set of U.S. English-speaking TV users as a “test kitchen” and will be adjusted and expanded based on how people use it and the feedback they give.
- Users interact by selecting preset options from themes such as “Scare Me,” “Family Movie Night,” or “Quick Watches,” so there is no free-form typing or chatbot interface on TVs.
- Every title includes a “Tune Your Recommendations” control that lets viewers keep a suggestion or tell Netflix not to recommend that title again, and the system learns from those choices.
- Netflix says data from AI Discover will not be used to decide what programs it produces, and the move reflects the company’s push to boost engagement beyond its existing recommendation algorithm.
