Overview
- Industry outlets reported on Thursday that Netflix commissioned a first script for a spin-off focused on Artemisia “Emi” Finch after a pitch from the Lincoln Lawyer executive producers.
- Ted Humphrey, Dailyn Rodriguez and Matthew J. Lieberman are reported to be writing the episode‑one script and are attached as creative leads on the project.
- Cobie Smulders is expected to reprise the role of Emi Finch and A+E Studios is named as a producing partner in current reports.
- Emi Finch is an original character created for the Netflix series because the comparable book character, Harry Bosch, has rights held by Amazon, which shaped Netflix’s decision to expand the showworld this way.
- The spin-off is not yet fully greenlit and key next steps to watch are completion of contracts for behind‑the‑scenes roles, an official Netflix series order, and any announced production or release dates.
