Netflix Developing Live-Action 'Dungeons & Dragons' Series Set in The Forgotten Realms

The project, led by Shawn Levy and Drew Crevello, marks a new attempt to bring the iconic tabletop RPG to television after its initial plans at Paramount+ fell through.

The series, titled 'The Forgotten Realms,' is based on the popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting and is currently in development at Netflix.
Shawn Levy, known for his work on 'Stranger Things' and 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' is producing the series, with Drew Crevello serving as showrunner and writer.
The project was previously set up at Paramount+ but was scrapped due to strategic shifts and the sale of co-studio eOne; it has since been reimagined for Netflix.
The Forgotten Realms is a well-known D&D setting, featuring iconic locations like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter, and has a strong connection to the popular video game series Baldur’s Gate.
If successful, Netflix aims to potentially expand the series into a larger Dungeons & Dragons cinematic universe.
