• The official trailer and first images released August 13 reveal Steve’s fight to save a last-chance reform school while battling anxiety and substance use.
• Max Porter adapted his own novella Shy into the screenplay and serves as executive producer, refocusing the narrative from troubled teen Shy to his headteacher.
• Cillian Murphy stars as Steve opposite Jay Lycurgo as Shy, with Tracey Ullman, Simbiatu Ajikawo, Emily Watson and Roger Allam in supporting roles.
• Tim Mielants directs for Netflix and Big Things Films, with Murphy, Alan Moloney and Tina Pawlik producing and Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow composing the score.
• Steve will world premiere in TIFF’s Platform strand in early September, open in select cinemas on September 19 and stream globally on Netflix from October 3.
