Netflix Debuts Galicia-Set Comedy 'Animal' on Oct. 3

Led by Luis Zahera and Lucía Caraballo, the eight-episode series from Alea Media explores the collision of rural veterinary life with upscale urban pet culture.

Overview

  • The story follows Antón, a cash-strapped rural veterinarian, who takes a job at his niece Uxía’s chic pet boutique in Santiago de Compostela.
  • Produced by Alea Media with Aitor Gabilondo and Jota Aceytuno, the show is directed by Víctor García León and Alberto de Toro, with García León also on the writing team.
  • Filmed on location across Galicia, the production recreates the fictional village of Topomorto in sites including Santiago, Dioño, Pontemaceira, Teo and Vedra.
  • The cast features Luis Zahera as Antón and Lucía Caraballo as Uxía, alongside Carmen Ruiz and Antonio Durán ‘Morris’ in key supporting roles.
  • In the lead-up to launch, Zahera has promoted the series on Spanish television, sharing on-set experiences of working with animals.
