Nestle India Q2: Revenue Beats Estimates as Profit Falls on Margin Squeeze

Strong domestic demand lifted sales to a quarterly record even as higher input costs compressed margins.

Overview

  • Revenue rose 10.6% year-on-year to ₹5,643.6 crore, topping Bloomberg’s ₹5,350 crore estimate.
  • Standalone net profit declined about 23.7% to roughly ₹753 crore as EBITDA margin contracted to 21.9% despite a 6% rise in EBITDA to ₹1,237 crore.
  • Domestic sales reached an all-time high of ₹5,411 crore, with three of four product groups posting strong volume growth.
  • The quarter included a ₹91 crore exceptional gain from the slump sale of two units, which modestly lifted profit before tax.
  • On the same day, global parent Nestle S.A. announced plans to cut 16,000 jobs worldwide over the next two years.
