NEPRA Approves Rs0.08-Per-Unit Fuel Charge for August, To Appear in October Bills Nationwide

The regulator trimmed CPPA’s request after a public hearing, leaving lifeline, protected, EV charging, plus prepaid users exempt.

Overview

  • NEPRA notified a uniform positive Fuel Charges Adjustment of Rs0.0796 per kWh for electricity consumed in August 2025.
  • The charge will be applied across Pakistan under the uniform tariff policy, including K-Electric, and must be shown as a separate line in October bills.
  • Exempt categories for this FCA include lifeline consumers, protected domestic users, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid consumers.
  • The decision follows a public hearing and is lower than the 19-paisa-per-unit increase sought by the Central Power Purchasing Agency, with a detailed order to follow after data review.
  • CPPA reported 14.22 billion units generated in August with 13.715 billion units supplied to Discos, and NEPRA directed companies to comply with any standing court orders when implementing the adjustment.
