Overview
- President Ramchandra Paudel, acting on Sushila Karki’s recommendation, appointed Anil Kumar Sinha, Mahavir Pun, Sangita Kaushal Mishra, Jagadish Kharel and Madan Pariyar to the interim cabinet.
- Sinha is set to oversee Industry and Commerce, Pun Education, Science and Technology, Mishra Health and Population, Kharel Information and Communication, and Pariyar Agriculture, according to the President’s Office.
- The five will be sworn in at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday, taking the caretaker council to nine members with the prime minister retaining key portfolios.
- Karki had earlier named Kulman Ghising to Energy, Water Resources and Physical Planning, Rameshwor Khanal to Finance, and Om Prakash Aryal to Home Affairs.
- Earlier reports suggested seven new inductions or a larger eventual lineup, but official notices confirm five in this round as the government also forms a high-level commission to probe protest violence and corruption, with India engaging through ambassadorial outreach and a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
