• A joint Gurugram Crime Branch and Delhi Police team confronted Bhim Mahabahadur Jora at Aastha Kunj Park late Monday after a tip-off, and he was declared dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre following an exchange of fire, police said.
• Officers say Jora fired six rounds and police returned five; Inspector Narendra Sharma’s bulletproof vest was struck during the shootout, preventing injury.
• An automatic pistol, empty cartridges, a live round, and a bag of house-breaking tools were recovered from the scene, according to officials.
• Investigators link Jora to the October 2 burglary at BJP leader Mamta Bhardwaj’s Gurugram residence, where arrested aide Yuvraj (Yubhraj) Thapa allegedly named him as the mastermind.
• Jora was wanted in the May 2024 Jangpura murder of Dr. Yogesh Chandra Paul and multiple theft and dacoity cases across Delhi, Gurugram, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh, and police say a fleeing accomplice from the park is still being tracked.
