Neon Secures North American Rights to Exit 8, Schedules TIFF Centerpiece Debut

The distribution deal follows the film’s eight-minute Cannes standing ovation, positioning Neon for its early-2026 theatrical rollout.

  • Neon acquired North American rights on August 6 after Exit 8 world-premiered in Cannes’ Midnight section in May.
  • Exit 8 earned an eight-minute standing ovation at Cannes and has secured screenings in over 100 territories.
  • The thriller will make its North American debut in September at TIFF’s Centerpiece program before opening theatrically in early 2026.
  • Directed and co-written by Genki Kawamura with Kentaro Hirase, the film adapts Kotake Create’s indie video game and features Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma, Kotone Hanase and Nana Komatsu.
  • Sarah Colvin negotiated the deal with CAA Media Finance, Goodfellas, TOHO and Story, reflecting industry confidence in the project.
