Overview
- Davis, 30, was arrested in Bondi and charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, an offence carrying a maximum five-year jail term, and is due in the NSW Bail Division Local Court on Friday.
- The AFP alleges he sent a menacing message on an encrypted platform encouraging abusive and hateful messages toward a federal parliamentarian after criticism of the 8 November National Socialist Network rally; investigators executed a search warrant and seized his devices.
- Independent MP Allegra Spender and NSW MP Kellie Sloane referred threats to police after denouncing the rally, and Davis had previously urged supporters to "rhetorically rape" Spender.
- Police said two other men were arrested in related probes: a 29-year-old from Tamworth over alleged online threats to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and a 32-year-old Victorian man charged over harassing emails and a phone call to Senator Lidia Thorpe.
- The AFP says it received 951 referrals of threats to federal parliamentarians in 2024–25, up 63% over four years, as NSW introduces a bill to criminalise public support for Nazi ideology with fines and potential prison terms.
