The helmet, described as a 'war trophy' by Ackerman, had a sticker from the neo-Nazi group NSC-131.
Ackerman faces sentencing on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
His guilty plea includes charges of civil disorder and theft of government property.
