Nella Domenici, daughter of former New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici, has launched her campaign for the Senate seat her father once held.
Domenici, a former CFO of Bridgewater Associates, has the backing of the GOP's Senate campaign arm and has already received over 3,900 signatures to get on the primary ballot within 4 hours of launching her campaign.
Despite New Mexico's recent lean towards the Democratic party, Domenici's campaign is seen as a potential opportunity for Republicans to expand their Senate map.
Domenici's campaign will focus on issues such as inflation, crime, border enforcement, and childhood well-being, as well as critiquing incumbent Democratic Senator Martin Heinrich's record on oil and gas policy.
Domenici will face former Bernalillo County Sheriff Manny Gonzales, a former Democrat, in the GOP primary.
