• Home security alerts woke the household around 2:03 a.m. Wednesday, prompting neighbor Kyle Myvett to confront a man in his neighbor’s garage.
• Officers arrested Schimpl at the scene and recovered two pairs of $300 Ray-Ban sunglasses, cash, a woman’s wristlet, and more than $500 in gift cards.
• Schimpl told police an accomplice was involved, but a helicopter and K9 search of the area found no other suspects.
• He faces one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, and two counts of petit theft under $750, and he is held at the Lee County Jail with a first court date set for Sept. 29.
