NEET-PG Round 1 Choice Filling Extended Indefinitely as MCC Reworks Seat Matrix

The Supreme Court has asked the NBE to file an affidavit explaining its policy on publishing answer keys.

Overview

  • The Medical Counselling Committee extended Round 1 choice filling until further notice after the NBE withdrew 169 PG DNB seats and the NMC flagged changes in postgraduate seat distribution.
  • MCC said it is removing excess seats and reapplying the reservation roster, with a revised seat matrix and a fresh schedule to be uploaded on mcc.nic.in.
  • The tentative window for choice filling and locking that ran from October 28 to November 5 is now overridden by the indefinite extension.
  • A Supreme Court bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Vipul Pancholi directed the NBE to clarify its stance on releasing answer keys through an affidavit.
  • NBE’s counsel argued that publishing keys could undermine exam integrity and benefit coaching institutes, as aspirants and groups publicly criticized the prolonged uncertainty.
