Overview
- The competition will take place July 5 at Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium after a May postponement caused by cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
- The 12-strong field features Neeraj Chopra alongside world champion Anderson Peters, Olympic gold medallist Thomas Rohler and Rio silver medallist Julius Yego.
- Five Indian athletes, including Asian championships medallist Sachin Yadav and national throwers Kishore Jena, Rohit Yadav and Sahil Silwal, join Chopra in the field.
- Co-organized by Chopra, JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics, the meet holds ‘A’ category status on the Continental Tour Gold circuit.
- Chopra has said he wants to see the Indian flag rise high among home supporters during the competition.
