NEC Disburses Rs 4.78 Crore to Nagaland in November as Fire-Safety Project and Bamboo Craft Centre Are Completed

Overview

• The November release to Nagaland totaled Rs 4,78,27,552 within Rs 56,22,37,739 issued across all eight North Eastern states.
• The 'Rain Water Reservoir for Fire Safety and Skill Training Centre, Nagaland'—sanctioned on March 9, 2023 for Rs 381.795 lakh—was completed with rainwater-harvesting reservoirs at Dimapur (Assam border) and Khuzama (Manipur border) to ensure reliable firefighting water.
• Project works at the Skill Training Centre in Chiechama added residential quarters, barracks, kitchens, classrooms, a drill shed, office space, and a playground to train educated unemployed youth in professional fire-safety skills.
• NEC reported completion of a Rs 4.48 crore bamboo-based craft concentration centre at Sovima Village, Dimapur, featuring a Craft Eco-Museum, a design lab, and facilities for natural dyeing and weaving to support artisan livelihoods.
• In addition to state releases, Rs 14,89,90,034 went to central agencies and cultural bodies for festivals, seminars, workshops, and sectoral conclaves, including events such as Purvottar Hindi Samagam, Lamka Youth Summit, and the North East Riders’ Meet.
