Overview
- Authorities identified the victim as Michael Dickinson, 69, found pinned between his vehicle and the drive-thru payment counter in Grand Island just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
- He was transported to CHI St. Francis emergency room, where he was pronounced dead.
- Division Chief Dean Elliott said it appears Dickinson opened his door to reach farther and became pinched between the door frame and the window counter.
- A McDonald’s employee who tried to assist through the passenger side was injured, taken by ambulance to a hospital, and is expected to recover.
- The Grand Island Police Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting the investigation, and the scene was cleared in about two hours as the restaurant remained open.
