Nebraska Legislature Passes Bill Restricting Rights to Abortion and Trans Care for Minors

Nebraska lawmakers passed a bill banning most abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy and restricting gender-affirming surgeries for those 18 or younger.
The bill passed in a 33-15 party-line vote and will become law once signed by Republican Gov. Jim Pillen.
Abortion after 12 weeks will be illegal, except in cases of rape, incest, or medical emergencies.
Gender-affirming surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone therapy will be banned for people 18 or under.
Nebraska joins other states in restricting abortion and limiting trans healthcare for youth.
