Knapp ein Viertel der Rentnerinnen und Rentner in Deutschland hatte 2024 monatlich weniger als 1500 Euro zur Verfügung. Dies waren laut einer Auswertung des Statistischen Bundesamts allerdings weniger als zuvor.

Overview

  • Statistisches Bundesamt figures show about 4.4 million retirees lived on less than €1,500 per month in 2024, down from 5.28 million in 2022.
  • 1.35 million retirees (7.4%) subsisted on under €1,100 net equivalized income in 2024, compared to 1.79 million (10%) in 2022.
  • Over half of pensioners (51.8%) received more than €2,000 monthly; 24.4% had incomes between €1,500 and €2,000.
  • BSW founder Sahra Wagenknecht condemned the figures as an 'Armutszeugnis' for Germany with economist Bernd Raffelhüschen highlighting that older Germans hold the highest average wealth among age groups.
  • Proposals include mandatory pension contributions for civil servants with adjustments to benefit formulas intended to ensure system sustainability.
