Nearly 100 Animals Seized From Warwick Home After Raids

Authorities say the animals are under veterinary care at a Westchester sanctuary, with some exotic species headed for specialized placement.

Overview

  • Investigators removed 66 animals in August and 18 more on Sept. 18 from the Old Dutch Hollow Road residence, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Deputies described deplorable conditions with feces-strewn cages and overcrowding, including a wallaby found inside the home.
  • The species list spanned domestic and exotic animals such as parrots, tortoises, prairie dogs, peacocks, bearded dragons, a tarantula, rabbits, cats and dogs.
  • Owner Linda Hickey, 62, faces animal neglect charges tied to the probe, with earlier 2024 cruelty counts on record, and local officials have condemned the house.
  • Animal Nation Farm Sanctuary in South Salem is providing veterinary treatment, with some animals considered for adoption and others requiring accredited facilities.
