  • The American Airlines Boeing 777, carrying 149 people bound for London, came within 1,400 feet of colliding with the Delta Air Lines Boeing 737, which had 159 people onboard.
  • The Delta flight was able to abort its takeoff run after an urgent instruction from air traffic controllers, averting a potential disaster.
