NDOT Sets Daytime I-15 Lane Reductions for Sensor Work as Overnight Closures Continue on South Stretch

The effort upgrades weigh-in-motion sensors to streamline truck screening.

Overview

  • Daytime restrictions run 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Nov. 4–6, on I-15 northeast of the Las Vegas Valley for weigh-in-motion sensor replacement.
  • Tuesday reduces southbound I-15 to one lane between Las Vegas Boulevard (Exit 58) and the Garnet Interchange/US-93 (Exit 64), Wednesday reduces northbound to one lane in the same segment, and Thursday reduces both directions to one lane there.
  • Separate overnight work through Friday cuts I-15 to two lanes in both directions between Sloan Road and Starr Avenue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with intermittent ramp closures between Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Sloan Road.
  • NDOT says the sensors allow truck screening at highway speeds to save time and protect pavement, and the work must occur in daylight to meet curing and calibration requirements.
  • The $81 million I-15 south widening adds lanes between Sloan Road and Blue Diamond Road, includes bridge, sound wall and ITS upgrades, and is expected to finish in December.
