NDMC Approves Renewable Energy Purchase, Smart Utility Upgrades and Staff Benefits

Investments will upgrade New Delhi’s utilities to reduce losses before the monsoon season

Overview

  • The council approved procurement of 120 MW of renewable power from NHPC Ltd at ₹4.62 per unit for 25 years.
  • It cleared replacement of more than 15,000 outdated energy and water meters with smart devices, budgeting over ₹35 crore.
  • A ₹70.44 crore contract was sanctioned for desilting the Sunehari Nallah at Lodhi Road and ₹5.2 crore for drainage jetting machines.
  • Employee welfare enhancements include hospital patient care allowances, conveyance allowances for doctors and a one-time housing regularisation policy.
  • A dedicated 1 percent of NDMC’s annual budget will fund arts and cultural programmes through the Urban Arts and Culture Forum.
