Overview
- The NDA secured 202 of 243 seats to form the next Bihar government, led by Nitish Kumar, with the BJP at 89, JD(U) at 85 and LJP(RV) at 19.
- In Seemanchal, the NDA took a majority of constituencies, winning 14 of 24, while the AIMIM matched its 2020 tally with victories in Bahadurganj, Kochadhaman, Amour, Baisi and Jokihat.
- Election analyses show Muslim votes split between the Mahagathbandhan and AIMIM, allowing the NDA to consolidate Hindu votes across castes and finish ahead in the region.
- AIMIM will account for a disproportionately large share of Muslim MLAs, and Asaduddin Owaisi signalled constructive cooperation with the incoming government while faulting the INDIA bloc for its strategy.
- Congress underperformed statewide and could manage only limited gains in Seemanchal, where it won four seats as the RJD’s footing also weakened.
