Overview
- Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the allocation on Sunday, confirming BJP 101, JD(U) 101, LJP(RV) 29, and six each for HAM and RLM in the 243-seat Assembly.
- JD(U) and BJP leaders met in Patna on Monday to work out constituency swaps and decide which seats to concede to junior partners before finalising candidate lists.
- Jitan Ram Manjhi accepted six seats for HAM after seeking more, voicing that the tally undervalued his party but reiterating loyalty to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
- The parity marks the first assembly contest since 2005 in which JD(U) does not contest more seats than the BJP, a shift from 2020 when JD(U) fought 115 and the BJP 110.
- The INDIA bloc has yet to announce its seat-sharing, with talks continuing in Delhi as first-phase nominations close on October 17 and voting set for November 6 and 11, followed by counting on November 14.
