Overview
- The NDA announced its allocation after days of talks, giving JD(U) 101 seats, BJP 101, LJP(Ram Vilas) 29, and six each to RLM and HAM.
- This will be the first Bihar assembly election since 2005 in which the BJP and JD(U) contest an equal number of seats.
- LJP chief Chirag Paswan settled for 29 seats after seeking 40, and alliance leaders indicated the first candidate list would come on October 13.
- HAM leader Jitan Ram Manjhi said six seats “undervalued” his party and warned it may have repercussions, while RLM’s Upendra Kushwaha urged supporters to accept the decision for now.
- The opposition Mahagathbandhan has not finalised its seat-sharing, with RJD–Congress talks continuing as nominations for the first phase close on October 17 and voting is set for November 6 and 11, with counting on November 14.
