NDA Graduates First Batch of 17 Women Cadets in Co-ed Passing Out Parade

Approved by a 2021 Supreme Court order, the women who joined the 148th course in 2022 were conferred JNU degrees alongside male peers at Pune’s Habibullah Hall.

Overview

  • On May 29, 339 cadets—including 17 women—received JNU degrees and course completion certificates in Science, Computer Science, Arts and BTech streams at the NDA convocation.
  • The May 30 Passing Out Parade marked the first co-ed march past the Antim Pag, with Governor V K Singh serving as reviewing officer.
  • The NDA introduced separate facilities and tailored physical training within a largely gender-neutral curriculum to accommodate the women cadets.
  • Division Cadet Captain Shreeti Daksh led the women cadets in academic rankings by topping the Arts stream, while Lucky Kumar, Prince Kumar Singh Kushwah and Udayveer Singh Negi topped Science, Computer Science and BTech respectively.
  • Following the 2021 Supreme Court order, 126 women have enrolled across six NDA cohorts since 2022, with five cadet resignations reported to date.
