NCRTC Pilots Track-Mounted Solar at Namo Bharat Depot in Duhai

The 15.4 kWp pilot advances NCRTC's push toward roughly 70% renewable power through a 15 MW in-house solar program.

Overview

  • The installation places 28 panels rated 550 Wp each on the depot’s Pit Wheel Track, delivering 15.4 kWp across a 70-metre stretch.
  • NCRTC describes the project as the first of its kind in any Indian RRTS or Metro system, following an earlier between-track deployment at BLW Varanasi.
  • Estimated output is about 17,500 kWh per year with an expected reduction of roughly 16 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
  • The setup uses otherwise unused track space to support NCRTC’s stated goal of net‑zero energy consumption across its facilities.
  • Under its solar policy, NCRTC targets 15 MW of in‑house rooftop capacity with about 5.5 MW already operational, complemented by regenerative braking on Namo Bharat trains.
