NCM Flags Unsettled UAE Weather Through Jan. 8 With Light Rain and Fresh Winds

Residents should expect a sharper chill from wind with rough marine conditions despite only minor temperature changes.

  • Light rain is forecast over the far north on Monday, January 5, as part of a nationwide unsettled spell running through January 8.
  • North-westerly to northeasterly winds at 10–25 km/h, gusting to around 40 km/h, will make conditions feel colder than the actual readings.
  • The Arabian Sea is expected to be rough to very rough, with the Arabian Gulf rough to moderate at times and the Oman Sea slight.
  • Some inland and western areas have recorded near-freezing minimums of 1–3°C with light frost observed in Raknah, while Abu Dhabi and Dubai are set for lows near 19°C.
  • After Monday, a shift to easterly and north-easterly winds is expected to nudge temperatures up by about 1–3°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, with chances of light rain over islands and parts of the Arabian Sea and possible fog, especially in western areas.
