NCLT Freezes Byju's Parent's Auctioned Hardware

The tribunal has ordered preservation of the goods as it requires the buyer and administrators to produce documents that could determine ownership and affect parallel insolvency proceedings.

Overview

  • The Bengaluru bench of the National Company Law Tribunal ordered a status‑quo on auctioned tablets, devices and other goods in an August 31, 2026 order to prevent further dissipation while ownership is decided.
  • The tribunal impleaded successful bidder Comprint Tech Solutions and gave it one week after service to file a detailed inventory, photographs and the complete storage address for the assets.
  • Byju's K3 Education's resolution professional says goods worth about ₹150 crore were sold for roughly ₹16 crore and alleged a withheld December 17, 2024 asset list, claims the NCLT said require documentary proof.
  • Think and Learn's resolution professional denies K3's title, says TLPL procured the hardware and that the sale was approved by its committee of creditors, and was directed to comply with an earlier August 20 order for asset details.
  • The case will return to the NCLT on September 21, 2026, and the outcome could materially affect recoveries in the separate insolvency processes for TLPL and K3 if ownership is not resolved.
