'NCIS: Origins' Prequel Series Greenlit by CBS

Mark Harmon Returns to NCIS Universe as Narrator of New Series

Mark Harmon will return to the NCIS universe as the narrator of a new prequel series titled 'NCIS: Origins', set to air during the 2024-2025 season. The series will follow a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the character Harmon played for nearly two decades on NCIS.
The prequel series will be set in 1991 and will depict Gibbs as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office. The series will introduce new characters and reintroduce fan-favorite characters from the original series.
Mark Harmon and his son, Sean Harmon, who has previously portrayed a young Gibbs on NCIS, will serve as executive producers on the prequel series. The series was pitched to CBS by the Harmons.
David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal, both veterans of the NCIS franchise, will serve as co-showrunners on 'NCIS: Origins'. They will also co-write the premiere episode.
Casting for the lead role in the prequel series will begin shortly. Sean Harmon will not reprise his role as young Gibbs, focusing instead on his executive producing duties.
