NCB Mumbai Incinerates 1,835 Kg of Mephedrone in Pre-Trial Disposal

A Supreme Court–guided panel supervised the destruction to prevent the seized cache from re-entering the illicit market.

Overview

  • The cache was seized during coordinated raids across Maharashtra and Delhi that led to 16 arrests, including a foreign national.
  • The drugs and 341 kg of related chemicals were incinerated on November 14, 2025, at MEPL in Ranjangaon, Pune.
  • A High-Level Drug Disposal Committee oversaw the process, comprising the NCB Deputy Director General (South-West Region), the Additional Director of NCB Mumbai, and the Additional Commissioner of Pune Police.
  • NCB officials said the months-long probe uncovered an organized, internationally linked syndicate involved in production, distribution and financing of synthetic drugs.
  • The bureau said investigations continue into trafficking routes and financial networks, and urged tip-offs via the MANAS helpline at 1933.
